Can Taking Xanax Cause Mood Swings And Stomach Distention?

Hi there. I have a question regarding a strange symptom I have while dosing down on Xanax. I will feel fine and then suddenly I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness and then my stomach quickly becomes distended. Is there a connection between the sudden feeling of sadness and the sudden on set of stomach distention.

Xanax (alprazolam) belongs to a group of drugs called benzodiazepines. It works by slowing down the movement of chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced. This results in a reduction in nervous tension (anxiety).You have not mentioned for which conditions you are talking it.
It can very well cause the mood swings and stomach upset. Other possible serious side effects are depressed mood, confusion, agitation, hyperactivity, nausea, vomiting, suicidal tendency, swelling of ankle and feet etc.
I will advise you to take advice from your doctor and stop it under the guidance of him/her as it can very well cause the WITHDRWAL SYMPTOMES.
