I am a young breastfeeding mom (22yrs) who suffers from a severe rectocele which developed after my first son, weighing 10lbs, was born after a hard 19 hour labor which resulted in an episotomy. It was tolerable for 2 years. However, Since the birth of my second child (another vaginal birth) the rectocele has become troublesome. Often I don t feel the sensation to pass a BM until the recocele is packed, I often have to apply counter pressure from inside the vagina and manually squeeze the BM out. I have suffered nearly my entire life which constipation. I ve tried increasing my fiber and even took metamucil but it doesn t seem to change anything, I do continue with level excersoes however. I want to look into correctional surgery but with breastfeeding and being a stay at home most with no one around to help during recovery, would it be wise to wait 2 years (the length I plan on nursing) before surgery is considered, or is it a bad idea to let this worsen?
