Can Surgery For Hernia Cause Infertility In Men?

I have just been told that I have NO sperm in my semen after having a sperm analysis performed. I am taking the next step by seeing a specialist on why. I am not on testosterone and the only thing I can think of is my 2 hernia surgeries. Question, is can the hernia surgery cause infertility.

Hello dear user!
Welcome to HCM, thank you for sharing your concerns
with us!

Usually surgeries for inguinal hernia does not cause infertility.
But there are some cases when the patients have complicated hernia or as we call it "incarcerated hernia".

In these cases the vase which carries the sperm or the blood vessels which supply the testicles may be damaged. So the testicles begin to shrink and the function of them to produce sperm decreases a lot.

You have to be fully examined by a urologist and do the proper analysis for your condition!

I wish you a good health!
