Can Smoking Marijuana Result In Coughing Up Blood?

I am a frequent Marijuana smoker, but have cut back and began biking daily. Now when I do smoke, I cough up much more and more frequently. After smoking last night, I woke up this morning coughing what I think is blood. Is it directly because of the drug?

Repeated coughing can cause minor erosions in respiratory tract this can cause bleeding during coughing.
It is better to quit smoking and take cough suppressants. This will help in healing.
