Can Small Stone In Gall Bladder Be Dissolved By Medication?
good day doc.yesterday i was diagnonose to have a gallstone measuring 0.47 cm,.49cm and 0.44 respectively . it has conglomerate length about 1.7cm it is possible to dissolve by medicine or i need operation? so far a little bit pain just like kirot. Thanks doc.
Hello dear, Understand your concern. Gall stone can be dissolved by medicine called ursodeoxycholic acid. But you should take for 2-3 years. Chance of recurrence is high after stopping drugs. It is used in mild case and without any symptoms like pain, jaundice, vomiting, indigestion and vomiting.
Another option is surgery: Done in very large stone and recurrence of symptoms. Surgery done only in symptomatic patients. Some time gi distress and diarrhoea may occur after surgery in some case.
So if you have no reccurence symptoms and no any difficulties, you should take drug.
But bet advice is go for surgery to prevent future complication. Wish you good health and all the best.
Best regards Dr. Sagar
