Can Severe Pain In The Left Eardrum Be Caused By An Eardrum Rupture?

Hello, I d like to inquire about a severe pain in my left eardrum that was just bought on today. It s very deep within my ear and the pain is made worse when yawning, sneezing and swallowing. I m taking an anatomy class and was experimenting with stethoscopes today.. I m wondering if perhaps I could have ruptured my eardrum?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an ear infection. I would recommend using anti-inflammatory medication for the pain such as Ibuprofen three times a day.

I also recommend using antibiotic ear drops for local treatment. If the symptoms continue you should see an ENT specialist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
