Can Rocephin Injection Be Used For Ulcerative Colitis?
Hi, I am a 73 year old male with severe ulcerative colitis. Have had part of my colon taken out previously. Never had ulcerative colitis until after the surgery. I have a bowel movement constantly. It has taken over my life. I can't go anywhere because of this. Can I take an rosafin injection to help? I am on Lialda but it has not helped me. I was on precidone for a short time.
Rocephin is basically ceftriaxone which is a third generation cephalosporin. It is not routinely indicated in ulcerative colitis unless you have evidence of fever or active infective colitis. The actual disease modifying therapy are steroids that is prednisolone. So there is not much role of Rocephin in your disease.
