Can Rimming Have A Chance Of HIV Infection?
Hi Dr. I m a male and I have had an unprotected oral sex (receiver) from a sex worker. She also done a rimming and anal licking. After 2 weeks I felt some symptoms which mentioned as HIV symptoms including Fever, Headache, Muscle & joint pain, mouth ulcer, swollen lymph nodes on legs, and muscle aches randomly. I just want to know whether I m in a risk of infected with HIV? Best Regards, MG

Yes, you are at risk for HIV. The rimming is less risk but receiving oral sex from a sex worker puts you at risk for HIV. That said, a single exposure is not putting you at a high risk. It is important that you get an HIV test now and repeat it again in 3 months to make sure that you are not infected. There are excellent treatments now for HIV, but it is important that you get tested and treated as soon as possible if you are positive.
