Can Rheumatoid Arthritis Cause Swelling In The Body?

Legs swelled up almost to knees. Feet swelled, Hands swelled from fingers to wrist. Redness, stiffness of leg. Therapist is working with exercises . Dr here thinks it is RA. Legs also tingles and after a few shakes and stomps it seems to stop for a while. Not a diabetic but doc said it was close.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
hi
I would suggest a systematic search for body swelling with blood tests for serum proteins, prothrombin time, liver functions test, serum creatinine, urea,Glomerulus filteration rate (GFR) for kidney status, CBC,Hemoglobin, serum Na and Pottasium levels.
Examination of liver lungs, spleen and heart to have a comprehensive view. Aslo tests alike serum Anti-ccp,rheumatoid factor for confirmation of rheumatoid.
A variety of causes have to be ruled out like, nephrotic syndrome, CHF, liver disorders etc
You may consult a physician for it
best wishes
