Can Removal Of IUD Cause Muscle Spasms In Rectum And Vagina?

Hi. I have a strange sensation like fluttering muscle spasms in my rectum and vagina. No pain but it s happening more frequently over the past week. Bm s normal. Just had an IUD removed. Family history of endometriosis. I have no idea what it could be: IBS?

Hi,
The presentation of IBS would be different and your clinical picture does not suit. Given the family history of endometriosis, I feel that it should be excluded before anything else. Infection is another possibility as are the simple muscle twitching precipitated by electrolyte imbalances. Please take the advice of a physician if you cannot get over the feeling in a week. Symptomatic irritability can happen when an IUD is removed as the pelvic and perineal area is well interconnected through vessels and nerves. Hope this helps.
