Can Redness On The Face Be A Reaction To Anesthesia?

My 5 yr old went into day hospital yesterday to have his tongue released due to been tongue tried. Since he woke from anesetic his face has been bright red like a temperature. But to feel him hes normal temp . . and its not sore or ichy .just red . is it a reaction ? Thank you

Thanks for the query..

As per your complain your son is experiencing an allergic reaction to any of the contents of the anaesthetic solution or any medication which is given to him post-operatively for relief from pain and to prevent infections which is leading to redness of face ..
You should consult your treating surgeon and get him evaluated and in case of allergic reaction the surgeon can advise him to take anti-histamines like allegra, benadryl or claritin along with it steroids can also be advised for reducing inflammation..
But any medication should be given only after proper advise with the treating surgeon..
