My 2 yr old popped up with a fever we thought it was a cold his fever spiked to 103.6 took him to the hospital they got it down looked at his right ear he had a ear infection 48 hrs later we are battling a fever again ear infection gone he was constantly crying can t sleep can t eat we noticed he kept grabbing his mouth the doctor never even looked in his mouth along his front teeth gum line is red bump like blisters back of throat red swollen lips and he started to get very fine red bumps but not very noticeable where I live the hospitals and doctors are awful and I have to question there diagnosis which they said was strep throat
HI. This is basically a case of upper respiratory tract infection with attendant complications, yes, the strep throat is one of the reasons. The ear infection is usually secondary to the infection in the naso-pharynx. The infection from one part of ENT can spread to another parts in no time as they all are well connected. The other symptoms can be due to added infection and the sweeling on the back of the tongue are called lingual tonsils. These all with the tonsils and adenoids make a Waldeyer's rring of lymphoid tissue to protect the child from septicemia, as a guard. Now that they are overloaded the child gets so much problem. I would advise such a child to be admitted to the hospital for observation, intravenous fluids and antibiotics as it will be difficult for the child to swallow.
