Can Protein Shake Cause Allergy?

Every time I drink a protein shake or eat a protein bar with high amounts of protein, I immediately have swelling in my throat and itching inside my throat. I'm wondering if I'm allergic to the protein, if so, which kind. I can consume soy protein i know that much.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You may be allergic to the protein or one of the other components in the bar or shake.

You may want to consider either eliminating them or having allergy testing to determine which component is causing the problem.

Allergy testing can be in the form of blood tests or skin prick testing.

I hope this helps
