Can Previous STD Affect The Chances Of Pregnancy?

hi I have been trying to get pregnant for almost a year and it has not happened yet. I had chlamydia when I was sixteen and never knew I had it but I didn't have it for that long maybe three months how long do you have to have a std for it to affect your chances of getting pregnant

Chlamydia unfortunately can cause PID, which is an infection of your upper genital tract, which can lead to scarring of the fallopian tubes that can affect fertility, but 80 percent of couples having regular (at least 2-3 days/week) intercourse will conceive within a year, especially if you are under the age of 35. Chlamydia is the most common STD in teenagers, so the huge majority of women who have had it as a teen will have no fertility problems, especially if they never had PID. I suggest waiting a full year (at least, especially if you are young) and if you and your partner haven't gotten pregnant, see your GYN with your partner and he/she can refer you for the right tests to figure out why you haven't conceived. 50 percent of fertility problems are caused by the male partner too, so it is important your partner is involved in the evaluation.
