Can Pre Diabetes Cause Recurring Boils On Neck?

Can pre-diabetes cause Boils? Far as I know I have good blood sugar but other signs i am pre-diabetic. And now I have had re-occurring boils on my neck. I am gray and lethargic. My blood chemistry. Chemistry: HbA1C 5.8. Random blood sugar at 87. Blood sugar after typical meal 106. But I am obese (300 lbs), and have NAFLD (fatty liver) and Insulin Level is through the roof. I had though the high sugar was necessary for the bacterial infections, so I am confued. Thanks

Hello,
I have some patients like you.
It is not necessary to have high blood sugars to have recurrent infection. High sugars of course would make it worse. Obesity itself is a cause and if you have dark velvety skin in the neck ( Acanthosis Nigricans), you would be more prone.
I often put my patients on Metformin to reduce their insulin resistance which is making the insulin levels high. You could discuss with your regular doctor.
I shall be happy to answer if you have further queries.
