Can Patches In The Ear Be Sealed?

An ENT put a tube in my right ear about a year and a half ago. I just recent had a probably with e-coli bacteria in it. He removed the tube today and told me that there is a hole where the tube was and that was it. I feel it needs to be patched or closed up some kind of way. What do I need to do? I am 30 years old.
