Can Pain And Stiffness In Hands Be A Sign Of Rheumatoid Arthritis?

I've been experiencing pain and stiffness in my hands and knuckles the past few days. my middle finger joints seem to be a little bit swollen though it has gone down a bit today. they also seem a little bit discolored like there is a blue purple color just under the skin. I'm wondering if this could be early signs of a rheumatoid arthritis? I am a 25 year old female.

hi
read your query

i should say you are smart
those could definitely be the signs of rheumatoid arthritis

some of the diagnostic features of rheumatoid arthritis are
1. affection of the hands and finger joints
2. swelling of the joints
3. morning stiffness of the joints- or after prolonged rest
4. nodules developing else where in the body, like forearm- but not always seen

i think you can confirm the diagnosis
if you have the following tests

rheumatoid factor
anti CCP
x ray of the affected hand

these will be confirmatory
let us know the reports
and we can help you further thereafter
as to the medications

it would be a good idea to test the following to rule out alternative diagnosis
uric acid
urine routine
complete helogram
kft

a baseline lft would help when we start treatment
and an echocardiography to rule out any possible cardiac involvement is a good idea too

best of luck
let me know the reports
