Can Neck Pain Be A Result Of Severe Headache?

I am a 34 year old female, 5 6 & 120 lbs. For about 6 months now, I ve had a head ache on the left side of my head at the base. It is always there and goes from dull to fairly strong. I wouldn t say migraine strength since I never feel I can t be mobile. Almost always accomanied by tension in my neck and in the last month or so I m noticing my shoulder, shoulder blade, and full arm down to my wrist are also aching. I had an MRI about 4 months ago, however, it was for my sinuses and focused on the upper part of my head rather than the base. Nothing abnormal. I was treated with antibiotics 2 months ago for a spider bite and again for a viral infection in my throat 1 week ago and neither of those affected its presence. I haven t taken pain medicines and have not tried any diet restrictions assuming it was tension related if anything. Thoughts?

Hi,

The headache symptoms described do not fit into the diagnosis of migraine. The other possibility is certainly tension type headache. Please ensure proper sleep, reduce the screen time and avoid stress. The symptoms also suggested possible cervical disc disease. Getting a fresh MRI BRAIN with MRI CERVICAL SPINE for proper diagnosis may be good idea.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
