Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can nasal polyps cause tooth pain? I will have pain that comes and goes. My dentist sees no cavities or issues. Usually pain goes away after dark fluid and something that looks like chunks comes out of one nostril (Same side as teeth pain). I take Flonase daily. Also I have a deviated septum.
Nasal polyps does not commonly cause pain but in case if you also have deviated nasal septum then the cause of pain in teeth on same side where you have fluid and chunks discharge from nose can be probably due to sinus infection causing sinus pressure and pain..
As the maxillary sinuses lie is close proximity of upper teeth therefore sinus infection can cause pain in upper jaw teeth on affected side..
So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room or an ENT Physician and get evaluated and a PNS View x ray of sinuses, nasal endoscopy etc can be done for confirmation..
If there is sinus infection you can be advised antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers for relief.. Also decongestant nasal sprays, saline nasal irrigation and steam inhalation can help in improvement..
Also if the steroid nasal sprays like flonase is not able to reduce the size of nasal polyps then surgical removal of polyps should be done..
Deviated nasal septum can also be corrected by Septoplasty procedure..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
