Can Melacare Forte Cream Be Used For Very Dark Lips?

And the answer i got from healthcaremagic for the question Can melacare forte cream be used for VERY DARK LIPS ? if yes ....... how long should it be used...? i have tried kojic creams and depigmenting creams ( like ban a tan ) on my lips .... but was of no use i m a smoker ( i smoke 4 - 5 cigarette a day )............ i m trying to quit...........will be successful soon ( my friends smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day and have pink lips...how is it possible ? ) do u advice me melacare ( as it is a steroid ) or chemical peeling or any other cream............? is there any treatment for dark lips.............? WAS Hi, the lips are black, due to heavy smoking, or due to the cyanosis, due to the less oxygen in the blood. the cause may be less oxygination in the lungs, or some problem in the heart. So local treatment may not help in many cases. So i advise you to consult a physician for diagnosis and treatment. Thank you i don t believe in this answer coz i don t have any symptoms........ i m 24 years old.......i gym 5 days a week..........very healthy............i m not a heavy smoker........and my lips turned black after using some lip balms ( like himalaya , NIVEA ) to be particular NIVEA lip balm made my lips dark.............i expect appropriate answer........

Thanks for writing to us.
melacare forte is too strong to be used over lips as it contains hydroquinone 4 percent along with mometasone and tretinoin. Personally I would not advise its use over lips. In my patients I usually advise kojic acid vitamin c combination along with milder peels. But as you have already used most of the milder creams, I would advise you to use hydroquinone 2 percent, steroid , tretinoin cream like clearz max over lips. But be very cautious with its use. Apply it in minutest possible quantity and dilute it with Vaseline too. This would ensure protection from any untoward side effect. Also take few sessions of milder chemical peels like arginine or pyruvic acid peels. For the same consult your dermatologist. Hope this helped.
