Can Medication Taken For Bipolar Disorder Lead To Depression?

hello
i have a girl friend who says she has bi poler, and every 2-3 weeks she says she goes through a state of bi poler. and we end up braking up. but as soon as she comes bak to me i cant help but take her back. we are broken up at the moment and she wants to get back with me.
so how do i know she really has bi poler, she isnt on medication and dosent see anyone about it. she says the medication makes her more depressed and apparently cut her self.

i was just wondering if you could clarify any of that?
and if u knew why bi poler was making her brake up with me.?
is there a way we could be together without this constant battle?

Hello

Bipolar disorder has two phases of mania and depression.
When the person is in mania, he/she becomes grandiose and over-estimates herself. There is loss of insight and person loses the ability to differentiate between right and wrong.

I think you should consult a psychiatrist for her proper treatment. Drugs like valproate act as mood stabiliser and control the mood. They donot lead to depression.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
