Can Massage And Exercise Rebuild And Strengthen Atrophied Quad Muscles?

Hi, I have a friend with knee pain, xrays show nothing wrong, but quads have atrophied. What do you suggest. Im thinking massage to stimulate blood flow, quad exercises to help strengthen and stretching for the joints to help rebuid the muscles to take decrease knee pain. What do you think?

Quadriceps are not atrophied without any reason. Has your patient hurt his knee in last few years? there are chances that he may have a problem related to soft tissue inside knee.I would recommend him to get MRI of knee joint. This will give us idea if any ACL tear or Meniscus tear is there. IF nothing comes out, massage is not the treatment. He should do quadriceps strenghthening exercises. Yes , some amount of fatigue pain will improve with quadriceps building.
