Can Mammogram Cause Costochondritis?
Could mammogram cause costochondritis? Have been experiencing achy pain in L sternum (level 4-5) on deep breath or yawn since f/u mammogram in same area & radiology tech was pulling a lot on the area. I am 50 YO clinical pharmacist w/excellent health profile (no HTN, DM, CAD, CP), no acute injury I am a long distance cyclist & swimmer but do not experience pain unless deep breath or yawn causes upper chest to rise. Also practice yoga with deep belly breathing which doesn t cause pain

Mammogram can not cause costochondritis in any way.
But since you have said about the technician pulling too much it is possible that something like muscles might have got stretched.
I would advise you the following:
Take an anti-inflammatory for a few days and see the results.
Consult your Doctor for clinical examination so that it will be confirmed whether this is costochondritis or something else.
I would strongly recommend you to undergo EKG as the pain in the chest and you are 50 years old.
Stop all the activities you are undertaking like swimming and exercises of any nature till you get the correct diagnosis and proper treatment till cure and have a great life life.,
