Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Left sided abdominal pain may be caused by many medical conditions including both IBS and gallstone.Depending on the associated symptoms, your Doctor may pose a diagnosis.Gallstone measuring 1.8cm may not occlude the bile duct completely and may give no symptoms.Depending on other symptoms your are presenting, IBS may be the cause of your pain but gallstone may not however be eliminated.
Asymptomatic gallstone may not need any special treatment unless it becomes symptomatic. However, even if asymptomatic, prophylactic cholecystectomy may be considered if your are diabetic, if size increase to the extent of occluding the lumen, or if you intend to embark on a long journey.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
