Can Laser Treatment For Long Sightedness Gives Full Solution?

Hi Doctors, I have long sight vision problem with -5 point on both the eyes. i use contact lens for my vision. can you suggest whether laser treatment is 100% solution for my future vision. How long the laser treatment valid ? it may affect my children ? what are the side affects in laser treatment ?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having refractive error of -5 in both the eyes. This indicates it is myopia. This can be corrected by refractive laser surgeries like LASIK.
LASIK can correct upto -10 dioptres of myopia, hence your refractive error of -5 can be easily corrected.
Any myopia which is pathological in nature can run in families and usually in pathological myopia the refractive error is more than -6 dioptres. In your case since it is less than 6 it is unlikely to affect your children.

The main side effect of laser treatment is dryness of eyes following LASIK.
