Can Laser Treatment Cure Shortsightedness?

i have low vision problem from my birth. i am already check many eye hospitals,but doctors say no cure for this. few months before (17,january,2011 in,DAILY THANTHI. Tamil newspaper) I read one article,that is, in British surgeons find a LASER treatment for short sight problem from birth..can you say about that and can you cure my problem. sir./

Hello,

Low vision since birth can be due to many causes. Unless the exact cause is not known it is not possible to give you advise on further treatment or whether laser would benefit you. Please remember that many eye hospitals have already examined your eyes and given you a poor prognosis. The article in the above newspaper must have been in general ( lasers are used in so many eye problems) and not specific to your eye condition.

You may get benefit from low visual aids ( kind of magnifiers) which help to use the existing vision to its best. Low visual aids are dispensed in most of the tertiary eye hospitals in big cities in India.
