Can Irritating Cough Be Due To Acid Reflux Or Allergic Reaction?

My husband is taking Bendroflumethiazide (2.5mg) 1 x night + Ramipril (2.5mg) 1 x night to reduce his hypertension and has developed an irritating cough. He has been taking these for approximately 18 months. Could this be an acid-reflux cough or an allergic reaction or? Please advise what can be done to help this condition. Many thanks, Yvonne Rogers

Hai.out of the two drugs tat u hav mentioned ramipril is an ace inhibitor (angiotenssion converting enzyme ) which has a tendency to induce cough in some persons usually dry cough, in ur case the reason could this.acid reflux cough andallergic are less likely in ur case. U can meet urphysician, to discuss for the change or other alternativedrug, pls go for a chestxray, uppergastrointestinal endoscopy to rule out the other cases . good luck
