Can Intercourse Cause Periods To Start Despite Irregular Periods?

I have very irregular periods and have been to the doctor for them I have been in birth control before to regulate then but stop taking it years ago. Somtimes I can go a year without having a period. 7 days ago I started my period while having intercourse it lasted about 3-4 days but it was very light. I thought I had stoped so tonight I tried intercourse again and started bleeding again. Could this be something serious or did I try to have sex too soon after my period.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,

I would suggest you to keep fly get your cervix examined by a gynecologist. Once they rule out poly and ulcer you can think of other possibilities like hormonal or other uterine problems which you can find out with basic hormone tests and a scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Diviya Arun,
