Can Intake Of Plan B Cause Irregular And Delayed Periods?

I had unprotected sex 52 days ago and took plan b within 48 hours of the incident. That was day 12 in my cycle. I had an early period on day 24 of my cycle and bled for about 4 days. Fast forward to today which is 52 days since the incident and I still haven t had a period since the initial bleed after plan b. My periods are normally anywhere from 28-32 days apart. I ve taken 4 pregnancy tests, the last one being yesterday and they re all negative. Could this be from the plan B or should I be worried about something else? It s now about 7 weeks since I had unprotected sex so it should show on an hpt if I were pregnant.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern that you have not got your periods after taking Plan B.
Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill which needs to be taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex, which you have done so. After taking Plan B, you should get your periods within 3 weeks from the day you have taken the pill, which you have got so. Hence, this episode seems normal.
Now, since the periods are delayed, you need to be evaluated by getting the following investigations done:
1. Blood for hormones beta-HCG, FSH, LH and Prolactin.
2. Ultrasound abdomen to know the status of ovaries and uterus.
Kindly consult Gynecologist for opinion with the reports and further management.
Wish you all the best.
