Can Intake Of Linisopril For High BP Cause Extreme Fatigue?
I m a female age 44 and have been fighting with high blood pressure. Generally running 160-174 / 108-120. Heart disease and stroke on mother/ father s side. Reluctantly started taking 10mg linisopril last Tuesday. I do not get the cough or haven t yet but it makes me extremely tired. I have also been checking on my bp since I have been on the med and it s still running 144-160/99-104. So it is going down but the exhaustion is discouraging...plus still having some headaches I believe associated with the bp. Should my bp be alot lower by now tomorrow is 7 days taking it faithfully and how long will the tiredness last? I almost felt better with my bp high. :/

HI
Thanks for posting your query.
See Lisinopril is a very good drug but it acts slowly so be patient and keep using it . Recheck your BP after 2 weeks and if it is still high then an additional medicines has to be used .
As of your weakness is concerned it is very common in hypertensive patients once BP medications has be initiated they experience weakness. This is because your body was adjusted to high blood pressure and now due to the use of medicine your blood pressure is lowering and the body feels that the BP is going down very much and hence gives the feeling weakness.
But there is no need to worry for that and nothing extra needs to be done also. This weakness will gradually wean off with continued use of medicines. So kindly continue the medicine.
Hope this information was useful to you. Any clarification feel free to ask .
