Can Intake Of Lexapro Cause Severe Pain In Lower Back?

I have just read a post regarding back pain whilst taking Lexapro. I have been on Lexapro for approx 2 months and have suffered severe Lower Back Pain of which there doesn t seem to be any relief and its truly getting me down. About 2 years ago my doctor a different anti depressant (just can t remember the name) and apart from making me sleep half the day, caused me the same back pain. The day I came of that drug my back pain disappeared. Could it be that the Lexapro is doing the same? regards Judy

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
I have read and understood your concern
Joint pains, muscle aches/pain have been described among the side effects of lexapro and other anti-depressants.Your pain may be a side effect of the drug. However, such side effects are less common and i will advise other causes of low back pain be eliminated. Some possible causes may include:
-Osteoarthritis
-Herniated disc
-Spondylolisthesis
-Spinal tumors
-And many others
I will advise you try the following:
*Continue with lexapro till you see your Doctor for reevaluation
*You may take a pain drug like tylenol and a myorelaxant like miorel
If pain persist, you see your Doctor for evaluation.
Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns
Wish you good health
