Can Impetigo With Lungs Pain, Sore Throat, Swollen Lymph Nodes Be Treated?

Sadly, my son had Cellulitis and a bad cold & he was put on antibiotics...then I got Impetigo...apparently 8-9 days ago. I had drainage from my nose. Then 2 days ago, I got a sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, coughing, couldn t swallow and the Impetigo was getting more painful... I WENT to the ER and that s how I found out on what I had and ER DOC, also concluded that all that I mentioned was part of Impetigo. I had 104.7 temp last nite, got it dropped to 100 with Excedrin and taking Antibiotics prescribed via ER doctor and cream. Thank God I didn t wait any longer. NOT only does it look bad, but it s painful and it can make you deadly ill. I was told via the DOCTOR- IF left UNTREATED complications can sometimes occur. Examples include: the chances of serious secondary complications that could affect the kidneys, joints, bones, and lungs. My LUNGS hurt, now...why? and what to do?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history of impetigo, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
