Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My granddaughter has blisters which were first diagnosed as hand foot and mouth and later corrected to impetigo and she was given antibiotics on Sunday last week. It took a while and they appeared to be improving but this evening she had a fever and couldn't move her neck. She's 2 - (26 months). No one else has come down with the same blisters despite this being described as highly contagious. She's been brought to a rural hospital where she lives in Idaho
1. with the occurrence of fever and stiff neck I would definitely seek a Neurologist's opinion & C.T. scan regarding the development of Meningitis [bacterial infection of membranes which covers the spinal cord and brain]
2. You must call the Doctor immediately or visit an ER, since if not treated early, the child can suffer brain damage.
3. be careful while administrating antipyretics and painkiller since they can mask the symptoms and make them less obvious and going by her age, without direction from doctor don't self-medicate her, it is important to react quickly so that she can be treated with preventive medication and undue complications can be avoided
