Can I Stop Taking Allopurinol For Few Days To Check Whether Tingling And Numbness Subsides Or Not?
I started taking allopurinol 4 days ago 100mg daily for high uric acid levels. Have had gout on & off for years but this flare-up has been the worst lasting over 2 months now. Put on allopurinol & I find that I now have pretty bad tingling & numbness in my hands & feet. I am thinking to stop taking the drug for a day or two to see if this goes away.

Tingling and numbness is a known side effect of allopurinol. If it's too much you may need to stop the drug.
There are a number of other drugs that may be used instead, especially the febuxostat which may be a more potent and safe alternative. Discuss this with your doctor.
