Can I Cut My Dissolving Stitches?

I had my wisdom tooth removed 6 says ago. Today I ate bread, now it looks like my dissolvable stitches have some food on the parts that are hanging out? What can I do to clean it off. I tried removing it with a toothpick, light brushing, rinsing, and mouthwash. Nothing works. Can I cut them off?
