Hi,

I do not understand, why you are thinking of taking Ornidazole and Zentel for constipation. Ornidazole is used to treat anaerobic infections or parasitic infections. Similarly, Zentel is used to treat the worm infections. These both drugs have no specific role in treating the constipation problem. Also, in your case as you have history of jaundice two times during last 2 years. You did not write about cause of jaundice. Was it some viral infective hepatitis or something else? Was it some medicine or alcohol etc. induced liver problem?

So, here you should take any medicine taking into consideration its ill-effects on liver. Of course, though rarely, but still both these drugs may cause raised liver enzymes, so even if these drugs are to be used for other specific reasons, these are to be used taking into consideration of benefits vs risks of these medicines. About constipation, we should note that less than 3 stools a week is termed as constipation.

Constipation should be treated by home remedies like more intake of water, increasing fiber diet by whole grain cereals, breads etc., by taking more green vegetables, fresh fruits, dry fruits, taking prams and berries. Also, adequate physical exercise is also advised. If these things do not work, then you may take OTC or prescription drugs like stool softener, bowel stimulant or stool bulk forming drugs for this purpose.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
