Hi,

Long term use of Hifenac-P may cause kidney disease. Hifenac-P contains non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) Aceclofenac and a pain killer paracetamol commonly prescribed to alleviate pain in inflammatory joint diseases such as osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Long term use with higher doses of Hifenac-P may harm normal kidneys because it may reduce the blood flow to the kidneys and hence it should be used carefully. On the other hand Hifenac-P should not be used if there is decreased kidney function as in case of uncontrolled diabetes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
