Can Hepatitis-A Be Transmitted Through Semen, Vaginal Fluid And Fecal Contact?

I tested reactive for Hepatitis A in a total ab blood test. Is hepatitis spread solely through fecal contact or can it transmit through other routes such as sperm or vaginal fluids? Also, is it dangerous to drink alcohol within the first 6 months of contracting hep a even if asymptomatic while doing so?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Hepatitis A usually spread through contaminated food or through fecal contamination. It usually doesn't spread sexually and not present in significant amount in vagina or semen fluid.
After recovery from hepatitis A, it's advisable not to drink alcohol for 1-2 month.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami,
