Can Hemorrhoids Cause Dark Bowel Movements?

I have hemmorhoids(spelling). It hurts to use the bathroom. I just started taking anusol supp. yesterday. My las two bowel movements have been very dark, with red. I did eat an entire raw beet yesterday. Could that be it? My PCP did check my bottom and did see the hemmorhoid.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Since you are a diagnosed case of hemorrhoids and have pain also indicate that there may be associated ano-proctitis or fissure in ano.
This can be diagnosed by per-rectal digital examination and ano-proctoscopy.
The dark color can be due to entero-colitis due to an infection.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get examination done by a Gastroenterologist or a Surgeon.
Tests of stool, urine and blood.
Colonoscopy.
A course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics.
Surgery if required.
Sitz bath in a tub with warm water.
