Can Having Oral Sex With HIV Positive Person Cause HIV?

Hi Doc,

I was tested NON REACTIVE after a rapid test(BLOOD TEST) exactly 33 days after the exposure. My risk is as follows:
1.) My partner told me he is HIV +
2.) We only had oral sex (I blew him but never cummed inside my mouth)
3.) We did French kiss to the point I tasted blood in his mouth ( I have no visible cuts or mouth sore that time but I have braces on my teeth?

Can you tell me how accurate my test is ?

Hello
thanks for using health care magic

So as there is contact with blood or blood product, there is a risk of transmission. He might have been having some small bruises which you
could not notice or precum in his penile opening which you still could not
notice.

However, the risk is small if you did not have wounds or ulcers in your mouth even if you tasted blood because enzymes in the digestive tract can digest the blood. More over, HIV type 2 is less virulent and less transmissible. The risk of transmission could also be reduced if he is on antiretroviral drugs already.

In all, there is a risk of transmission and its only after 3-6 months that rapid test could be accurate. For early diagnosis, you could do the antigen/antibody ELISA test or PCR.

Best regards

this test is not accurate. you have to go for P24 antigen test or hiv rna pcr. this are the earliest test to give positive result. rapid blood test will not give positive result in early cases.

Hi you have negligible but definite chance of hiv. and your rapid antibodi test is not accurate after 33 days, because even if you are infected you are in window period. So test is negative. you should go for confirmatory hiv testing once. you can go with p24 antigen or pcr.
