Can Giving Food Or Drinks To A Baby Who Is Having Tube In The Ear Cause Problem?

My baby is 15 months old and is having tubes put in his ears. The doctor said no food or drinks after midnight the night before the surgery. This baby still wakes up every 2 or 3 hours for a bottle. Would any water harm him? Any suggestions to keep him from screaming all night?

Pediatrician 's  Response
avoid feeding anything at night esp as the doc has suggested. because the child has to keep nil orally if he needs to be given any anesthesia. ask the anesthetist for some medicine at night to put him to sleep and make him calm.
