Can Fever And Sore Throat Be Normal Symptoms During Fever?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... My daughter has had a fever for two days - it is low grade, as her hands remain cool, but her eyes are bloodshot and she complains of a sore throat. She is able to eat and keep things down, but she also has quite a bit of chest congestion and coughing. What do I need to do for her?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Fever and sore throat are normal symptoms. If it is causing eye redness throat needs to be examined for infectious mononucleosis and strep throat as low grade fever spikes cannot cause such amount of symptoms. If strep throat is a cause, she requires antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prasanna Lakshmi, Pediatrician
