Can Fever And UTI Be Related?

I recently contracted a urinary tract infection after having protected sex with my boyfriend. Recently, I was hospitalized for it, because of a high fever, and after the infection cleared, I had sex with him, same condoms and everything, and felt the same burning and itching sensation afterwards. I empty my bladder before and after sex, as well.
