Can Fatigue And Heavy Menstrual Flow Be Attributed To Low Thyroglobuline Results, Also Have Thyroidectomy History?

Hi, I am a 47 yr old woman of interracial origins (African/Canadian) I was diagnosed with cancer of the Thyroid Gland two years ago and underwent compete Thyroidectomy, as well as radioactive iodine therapy. My most recent blood test results indicated Anti-Thyroglobuline at -20 and Thyroglobuline at -0.5. The word "Low" was written next to the Thyroglobuline results. I have been feeling particularly fatigued recently, experienced exceptionally heavy menstrual flow two months ago, and was wondering if these symptoms have anything to do with the test results. lf so, what are the other possible symptoms that may be causing these results?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms. Have you been taking any thyroid supplements since surgery? This is because hypothyroidism can cause menstrual irregularities and severe bleeding. The bleeding in itself leads to anemia which causes fatigue, as well as fatigue being part of hypothyroidism. I will suggest that you get your thyroid function evaluated and blood tests to identify any anemia. You should be screened for other symptoms of low thyroid which include dry skin, constipation, depressed moods, etc

I hope this addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more clarification or information if need be. I wish you well.
