Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had a sudden pain across my chest. Drank a glass of water and it went away. I am a healthy senior, and the only other time this happened - bout 10 years ago - went to AN ER. Checked me out, said youre fine, what have you eaten recently - nuts - he said don't ea them again.
Yes. Nuts can cause chest pain, but not to everybody. What You have experienced it is called oral allergy syndrome and it happens when you eat specific kinds of nuts (hazelnuts being the worst). Oral allergy syndrome typically does not appear in young children; the onset is more common in older children, teens, and young adults who have been eating the fruits or vegetables in question for years without any problems.
I recommend you not eating them again.
Best Regard, Dr. Eni
