my ex husband has been to hospital to have a scan because he has noticed blood in his mucus. Very unlikely that he would have told them that he is an alcoholic. Hospital have told him there is no problem after he had CT scan but if he hasn t told them about his drinking I suspect that they did not consider this. Is it likely that the blood could be because he is a heavy drinker?
my wife never smoked, drinks alcohol very little, but has had a nagging, chronic, intermittent cough for about 3 months. she has been to the doc, No sinus problems, had her chest x-rayed, given benzonatate, pardon the spelling, Proventil hfa 90 mcg inhaler..nothing helps. she is 72 years old and in very good health...but this cough is tough to deal with. I have a son who is 32 and I believe is well on his way to alcoholism. He has this horrible cough, and now having panic attacks. At first, I didn t relate the 2, but now I m beginning to think it is due to his drinking. His father and grandfather were alcoholics, but his dad and I were divorced when my son was 3. I don t want him to continue this cycle. He has a 9 year old son, and I know alcoholism runs in families. Is the cough and panic attacks related to his drinking. ? It is hard for him to admit he has a problem. What do you suggest?
Hi, Our 9 year old granddaughter has had 5 ER visits and was flown to Anchorage. She is now home but… This started about a month ago, their whole family had a doctor’s visit all having strep throat. The morning of the visit she started having a small whistle noise when breathing although she showed no distress of not getting enough air. But by the time she reached the doctor’s office it was getting worse. The doctors did a quick check and said she needed to go to the ER. At the hospital she was in full Stridor, they gave a breathing treatment and took x-rays. The x-ray showed an hour glass shape of her airway with swelling around the airway. Epiglottis looked fine they said. She spent the night in the hospital given antibiotics, doc said tonsillitis . Within the next 7 days she had a total of 4 ER visits and 3 nights in the hospital. Steroids and breathing treatments did seem to help. She was treated for croup. Day 8 she had a follow up doc appointment aDoes nd at that she had a full blown attack. Very bad Stridor, could not get enough air but always o2 was at 100%. She was sent to anchorage there they ran tests checked her throat and said it was vocal cord dysfunction, although the test was not done during an attack.. We have been trying to learn how to breathing differently. But now the attacks are different, they are more like charley horse cramping in the throat, spasms that last about a minute quit a minute and go on for an hour to an hour and a half. Very painful for her. Also we have to watch that her does not panic and hyperventilate. From our reach it feels like there is more than one thing going on, Does this charley horse spasms sound like it is vocal cord dysfunction?
I was given amoxycillin for a chest infection and did not improve after 48 hours, therefore I went back to the GP who then gave me Clarythmomycin as it resulted in pneumonia. I have been off work for 3 weeks now and feel completely washed out and exhausted. I had a chest x-ray which was clear, but was given an inhaler temporarily as I was out of breath and wheezy. I still have an incredible amount of phlegm which has now changed from brown to sometimes green to clear. Unfortunately, for last 3 days, my trachea is extremely bruised to touch and feel as if someone is pressing my windpipe. Although my tonsils aren t swollen, my ear hurts deep inside. I have had to start taking paracetamol again this week as feel weak, wobbly and feel as if I am going backwards again instead of improving. I am 45 years old. Non-smoker.This is the 3rd time I have had pneumonia in 18 years. I am reasonably fit and healthy, and I don t suffer from colds normally, but whenever I come down with something, I seem to suffer with it. How long does it take to get back to normal? Are the trachea symptoms part of the initial pneumonia symptoms or would I need to see the GP again. I am feeling extremely fed up of generally feeling unwell. I am taking a tonic (Metatone) and drinking and eating healthily. Basically, is it normal to feel this unwell for so long.
two months ago I began with an upper respiratory infection. I temporarily lost my voice, but this resolved quickly. I then began having palpitations, anterior neck pain, headaches, fatigue. I took a full course of Augmentin, but once stopped, all symptoms continued again. Now I have palpitation that are intense, and wake me out of a sound sleep. My heart thumps all night, and I can tell it skips beats. My anterior neck will have an odd pain, and my left lymph node is swollen again. My sinuses are chronically infected it seems as well. The headache throbs, and the pain is moderate.
