My wife donated a kidney a little over two years ago. In the past year she has been feeling sluggish and overly tired. She had blood work done and was advised her tyroid levels were low and put on Levothyroxine. My question is could the fact she donated have caused this thyroid issue and should she seek out information form her organ donar team?
Hi Thanks for consulting us. Hypothyroidism is quite common in women. Kidney donation as such is not responsible. I would recommend antiTPO antibodies and clinical correlation to help diagnosis. Hope you are satisfied. Please rate our services. HCM shall be pleased to help you in future, too.
