Can Disc Herniation Cause Frequent Urination?

I have had a disc herniation for over 8 months now. I had an MRI and it showed that I have a disc herniation at L5/S1 with mild compression of the S1 nerve. I have pain that follows that nerve path. lately I am having the urge to urinate a lot. It feels like I always have to urinate even when I have just gone to the bathroom. I have no pain in the saddle area. Could the disc herniation be causing this?

Hello
Thanks for query.
The urgency for urination that you have is not due to herniation of intervetebral disc but it is due to what is called as Over Active Bladder syndrome (OAB).

Under normal circumstances one gets sensation of urge to pass urine when bladder gets filled up with 250-300 ml of urine .however in OAB syndrome the bladder is over sensitive and one gets involuntary contraction of bladder even if it is filled up with small quantity of urine giving rise to frequent urge to pass urine .

This can be inhibited by taking anti muscuranic drug like Solifenacin or Darifenacin once daily .
