Can Delay In Periods Be Pregnancy?

my periods are irregular. i am 33 yrs old and have a 8 year old daughter. i am married for 10 yrs now. last month i got my periods 1 week late. my date was17th june. this month i have not got it yet. i did the test on monday morning with the first urine at home on pregcolor card. it showed negative. i am confused. we dont want another child. what should i do?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
* Urine pregnancy test gets + ve after delay in period by 8-10 days.Your pregnancy test is -ve after a weeks delay in periods- that excludes pregnancy- because the test is based on pregnancy hormone HSG which is a must for growing fetus.& you need not be confused. Be relaxed.
To remove any doubt about pregnancy you can go for blood pregnancy test which is very sensitive & does not have error in result.
* When you get pregnancy excluded by -ve test again,you should -
- Get a short course of hormonal pills to induce bleeding ,
- get investigated for finding cause for delay,as advised by your gynecologist. & get specific treatment thereafter.
