Can Cortisone Shot Cause Insomnia?
Hello, I am contacting you regarding a cortisone/corticosteroid shot I had because of a said allergy reaction at the ER. It s been almost two months and I still can t sleep at night, my heart races right before I sleep and I sometimes feel depressed, I am now put on Xanax 0.5mg and Surmontil 25mg that I cut in half to be able to sleep. Are these side effects going to go away? Thank you for your time.

Well, insomnia may be difficult to treat, but there are some methods which can be used. Treatment options include behavior and lifestyle changes, medicines, and complementary medicines.
You need to change your dietary habits and these include changing your sleep area or schedule, watching what and when you eat and drink, and being more active.
It's also important to keep regular bedtimes and wake times-7 days a week-and to try to avoid taking naps during the day.
Prescription sleep medicines amy also help and include diazepam and similar medications. Melatonin is supplement which may be of help as well. In severe cases, special testing is needed.
